BACK TO BASICS

How many chemicals to you apply to your body each day?

That is the question I asked myself several years ago and when I looked at my daily skincare and I was shocked as it was easily hundreds!

Just look at your product list – cleansers, toners, moisturisers, shower products, shampoo, conditioner, body creams, toothpaste, make up and perfume!

Being passionate about skincare and working in the industry all my life I know that I feel good when my skin is fresh and glowing, but on the other hand it cannot be good in any way to continually apply this toxic cocktail of chemicals to the body daily!

It was time for change.

All my ingredients are 100% natural and food grade as I will not put something onto my body that I would not put into it!

My soap contains Coconut and Castor oils to gently cleanse the skin.

Local Rapeseed oil, (the bright yellow fields in Springtime all over Northern Ireland) – the oil comes from a single variety and is cold pressed to retain all the nutrients and skin benefits and it is a powerhouse of Omega 3, 6 and 9 plus vitamins and antioxidants.  I also love the fact that it is grown in Northern Ireland, supports another local business and reduces our carbon footprint.

Shea and Cocoa butters to hydrate, nourish and soften the skin.

To use firstly wet the skin and then add a small amount of water to the soap and gently rub the hands to turn into a luxurious cream.

Massage gently into the skin using upwards and outwards movements to aid lymphatic flow and wash off with tepid water and a face cloth – which will gently remove both dirt and any dead skin.

 Face & Body Oil

My Face & Body Oils took over 2 years to create and my philosophy was for a 100% natural product to moisturise, nourish, regenerate, soften and smooth the skin.  It is an anhydrous product which means that it does not contain any water – I discovered that a lot of skincare has water as the top/main ingredient and when you use water you then need preservatives to prevent bacterial growth and also emulsifiers to mix the water with your oil – all of which have no skin benefits but are simply there to make the product into something we are familiar with ie, a cream!

It was my vision to create a product where each ingredient had a specific skin benefit and was suitable for all skin types and all ages.

My ingredients are:

Organic Safflower Seed Oil – hydrate and soften

Grapeseed Oil – regenerate and renew

Camellia Seed Oil – moisturise and nourish

JoJoBa Seed Oil – condition and protect

In addition, it was very important that the oils absorbed quickly and left no greasy residue and could be used daily.

To use:

Apply a small amount onto dry or slightly damp skin. Using the pipette, place a few drops of oil into the palm of your hand and massage gently into the skin in an upwards direction.

All of my oils are fully certified under both UK and EU law to be used on the face, body and hair and each of the scented oils can be matched to one of the soaps to give a truly complete daily aromatherapy treatment which benefits both the skin and the senses.

The products can be purchased from my website or from the many local retailers throughout Northern Ireland who stock my range – you can also avail of their testers.

(Using less on my skin has really made a difference and I rarely wear any make up other than mascara and a lip balm / gloss.  I also use a natural toothpaste – TruthPaste and wash my hair with my Shampoo & Conditioner Soap.  I am working on a special serum for older skin and a balm for very dry skin).

In conclusion this routine has reduced my toxic load completely, costs much less, takes less time and my skin feels so much healthier and fresher!
