Here at Deborah Neill all our handmade soap is created completely from scratch with food grade ingredients and pure essential oils.
Soap is really a salt – a combination of an alkali, in this case Sodium Hydroxide with naturally occurring fats such as olive and coconut oils. During this process Glycerin is produced.
What is Glycerin?
Glycerin is a humectant, meaning that it attracts and maintains moisture in the upper layer of the skin. This prevents dryness by maintaining the skin’s barrier against the elements and it can also help to promote skin healing. Its main function is moisturization and gently cleansing of the skin.
Many commercial Soapmakers extract the glycerine and then sell it on to beauty companies for use in expensive facial creams and serums – they then add various chemical substitutes to their soap, but these can dry and irritate the skin. This is the main difference between handmade and commercially produced soap.
By keeping our ingredients simple we can help to eliminate skin sensitivity by just giving the skin what it needs – a gentle cleanse that removes surface dirt and impurities but still helps to moisturise, hydrate and soften your skin.
Our ethos is to only put into our soaps ingredients which add a value to the final product such as cleansing, hydration, moisturisation, softening and soothing. Nothing else – simple and pure skin loving oils and butters!
The scents in our soaps come from 100% pure essential oils and having worked as an Aromatherapist for over 25 years, Deborah blends all the oils herself using the principals of aromatherapy to create a balanced, lasting scent with an associated therapy.
If you have never tried our handmade soap you are in for a treat, both for your skin and your senses – it’s a little bit of everyday essential luxury!

Absolutely love the facial soap and spa soap. Beautiful smell from spa soap and oil. Facial soap really makes my face feel clean and the Bloom oil does what it says. After spending a lot of money on expensive brands I cannot believe the results from a local brand which is so much more affordable. Thank you Deborah x
